Sitting Seoul is a project that documents chairs designed and produced by designers based in Seoul. Through this project, it explores contemporary design trends in the city and aims to serve as a platform connecting designers, makers, and potential users or collectors of chairs. It also records the thoughts and practices that various creators in 21st-century Seoul, including designers, craftspeople, and researchers, have projected onto the object of the chair. The act of sitting is an everyday human behavior, as well as a cultural device that reveals the relationships between materiality, place, the body, and institutions.
